UCU Thanks Ency Whitehill as she Retires from UCU Board
Longtime board member and former board chair retires after 30 years of service
Orono, ME - (June 2, 2026) University Credit Union announced the retirement of longtime volunteer board member, Ency Whitehill, with 30 years of dedicated service.
Whitehill began serving as a Board Director in 1996 and during her tenure she held many roles on the credit union board. She was the first woman in the credit union’s history to hold the role of board chair, serving in that role from 2022-2025, was Vice Chair from 2010-2022, and on the Audit Committee from 2007-2019.
Whitehill has been active in the greater University of Maine community for more than two decades as a UMaine graduate and former campus administrator. Whitehill retired from UMaine in 2006, where she served as Finance Manager of Student Health Services for 22 years. She enjoyed serving the members of the credit union and staying current with the credit union movement over her years of involvement at UCU.
“On behalf of UCU, I want to thank Ency for her contributions and years of service with the credit union, its members and the Orono community,” said UCU President/CEO Renee Ouellette. “Ency has been a staple at the UCU and in the credit union movement, helping to support our growth over the years with her contributions.”
