How To: Changing Signers on a UCU Student Organization Account

Student organizations undergo frequent personnel changes, and to keep the organization's account secure there are important steps and documents that are required.
We've put together this short blog to help make it easier for you to manage your organization's account when signers need to be added, removed, or updated.
What's Required to Change Signers on the Account
All changes to signers on an organization account require the following three documents:
- Letter of Authorization
- Signed Change of Signers Form
- Government Issued Photo ID
Letter of Authorization
The Letter of Authorization should state your intended changes to the account, and must meet any one of these criteria:

- A letter signed by all current account signers
- A letter signed by all officers of the organization
- A letter signed by the organization's advisor
Note: The Letter of Authorization DOES NOT need to be signed in front of a UCU employee or Notary Public.
Signed Change of Signers Form
This must be signed by at least one current signer on the account to authorize the addition or removal of signers, and must be signed either in the presence of a UCU employee or the form will need to be notarized. Signatures can also be made electronically if you cannot make it into a branch.

- Signature of at least one current signer
- Signed in the presence of a UCU employee or notarized
- One signer on the account must remain a UCU member
Note: Any signers being removed from the account can be listed on the form and do not need to provide a signature or additional information.
Government Issued Photo I.D. of New Signers
All new signers need to provide some form of government issued photo identification and need to sign the UCU Change of Signers form. The following examples of photo ID's are acceptable:

- Passport
- State issued ID or Driver's License
- Military ID
Note: Proof of residency may be required, such as your Maine Card or renter lease agreement.
Completing the Change
Once we've received the Authorization Letter, Change of Signers Form, and a photo ID for new signers, the changes can be completed.
