University Credit Union Thanks Longtime Board Member Hugh Morrison

Morrison retires from the volunteer board of directors after 16 years of service

ORONO, Maine (April 22, 2022) – University Credit Union has announced the planned retirement of longtime board member Hugh Morrison after nearly 16 years of dedicated volunteer service to the credit union.

Morrison joined the University Credit Union board of directors in 2006 in conjunction with BANSCO Credit Union’s merger with UCU. He was Director of BANSCO Credit Union for ten years and served two years as Chairman, having had a leading role in the merger. Morrison also served for six years in the Maine State Legislature, where he held positions on the Appropriations Committee and supported legislation favorable to the Credit Union Movement.

Earlier in his career, Morrison worked for Pan Am for 23 years and was a teacher at Garland Street Junior High School. A U.S. military veteran, Morrison served with the Maine Air National Guard for over three decades. He earned an MS in Education from the University of Maine in 1964 and a B.A. in Teaching from the University of Maine in 1963.

“On behalf of UCU, I want to thank Hugh for his years of service and contributions not only to the credit union, but to the people of the state of Maine,” said UCU President/CEO Renee Ouellette. “Hugh’s leadership over the course of his long career has been invaluable to the growth of UCU and the Credit Union Movement in our state. We wish him the very best.”
