Third Annual Biggest Little Golf Tournament Turns Putts into Purpose for Special Olympics Maine
ORONO, Maine (October 15, 2025) – The third annual Biggest Little Golf Tournament, sponsored by University Credit Union (UCU) and CU Insurance Solutions, once again brought laughter, friendly competition, and community spirit to mini-golf courses in central and southern Maine this September, all in support of Special Olympics Maine.
The two-part event teed off at Fielder’s Choice Ice Cream in Bangor on September 9, and wrapped up at Aquaboggan Water Park in Saco on September 23, raising $21,477 to fund year-round sports training and competitions for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
Across both events, Special Olympics Maine athletes joined local families, friends, and supporters for evenings filled with colorful costumes, playful challenges, and plenty of laughter. Participants put their skills to the test across whimsical mini-golf courses featuring inventive obstacles and water features, competing for titles such as best costume with winners taking home prizes.
Proceeds from the Biggest Little Golf Tournament will directly support Special Olympics Maine, funding sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics’ mission remains as vital today as it did when the movement was founded in 1968- striving to create a better world by fostering the acceptance and inclusion of all people. Through the power of sports, people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. Athletes find joy, confidence and fulfillment—on the playing field and in life.
